We begin our report from the Industrial Forum IRT with the numbers. A highlight of 8. IF IRT was Industry 4.0, as extensive professional topics and more than 50 exhibitors drew more than 350 participants to the two-day event in Portorož.

Manufacturers are constantly looking for ways to improve the speed, quality and cost efficiency of machining processes. To respond to these needs, the suppliers of machine tools, CAM software and cutting tools are constantly inventing new products and application strategies. Combined products and strategies are adapted to specific types of machining so as to achieve maximum productivity. The latest achievements in rough milling conclusively prove the benefits of using advanced machining technologies.

At the last Automatica fair, ROEMHELD has presented components and systems for efficient and Industry 4.0 capable partial automation of manual assembly workplaces, including two workplace solutions for the assembly of differential drives and brake cylinders.

Mid-May, KMS technology days were held in Šenčur, offering interesting presentations from domestic and foreign experts in toolmaking and injection moulding. More than 150 participants from 60 companies proved this branch is very much alive and showed the need for such educational seminars and demos. The participants have heard from several lecturers, followed by demonstrations on displayed machines.

Engineers from Zagreb-based Spectra Media, d. o. o. have designed and manufactured a waste toner cartridge recycling machine based on non-explosive technology. Used toner components from printers, fax machines and similar machines contain environmentally harmful substances.

The article presents the procedure of building simulation models for a directional control valve (type KV), an exchange valve (type VE) and a flow divider (type DTP).
All these models are the result of successful collaboration between Poclain Hydraulics, d. o. o. and the Laboratory for Fluid power LFT at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Ljubljana. Both numerical modelling and simulations were executed in AMESim sofware package’s one-dimensional virtual environment. The key parameters necessary to comprehensively describe real conditions in valves were obtained based on 3D flow simulations.
