Efficient deburring with robots

If a milling cutter is guided by a robot, the machining is fundamentally more unstable than on a machining centre. To reliably ensure the shortest cycle times in industrial production in this instance, KADIA is using MAPAL’s FlyCutter with three cutting edges in a newly developed system with three robots for deburring battery trays for electric vehicles.

System for the control of injection moulding process

The development of pressure sensors for injection moulding of plastics has been full of upheavals in recent years. The current project includes the development, optimization and implementation of solutions for intelligent injection moulding of plastics. The system is based on a piezo-crystal sensor, a charge amplifier, an FPGA-driven DAQ device and a cloud-based solution for data analysis and visualization.

Prefabrication welding of pipe assemblies

Piping systems in conventional and nuclear power plants play an important role for their safe operation. Thick-walled pipes made of austenitic stainless steel are often used for conveying media under extreme conditions. First of all, in the case of nuclear safety systems, the standards for the construction of pipelines are the strictest and include special requirements for welding and inspection of welds.

Singapore scientists are converting waste paper into battery parts for smartphones and electric vehicles

Scientists from NTU Singapore have developed a technique to convert waste paper, from single-use packaging and bags, and cardboard boxes, into a crucial component of lithium-ion batteries. Through a process called carbonisation which converts paper into pure carbon, the NTU researchers turned the paper’s fibres into electrodes, which can be made into rechargeable batteries that power mobile phones, medical equipment, and electric vehicles.

Recommendations for appropriate selection of hydraulic fluid 

When choosing the appropriate hydraulic fluid for the hydraulic system, it is necessary to first choose the appropriate kinematic viscosity. The general rule is that we should use the least demanding and most available hydraulic fluid on the market.
